About us:

St. George Physiotherapy Clinic is an outpatient community physiotherapy clinic located in downtown Toronto. The clinic has two different locations and a multidisciplinary team to take care of and improve patients’ mobility and help decrease patients’ pain. The clinic has been a part of the downtown Toronto community for over forty-eight years and has eight physiotherapists, one chiropodist, and one massage therapist whose goals are to work with patients of all ages and abilities to help them return to their optimal mobility. The clinic treats patients who have had sprains/strains, sports injuries, and surgeries, both in its facilities as well as in patients’ homes. 

The clinic operates at two downtown Toronto locations:
• Museum Location: 180 Bloor Street West, Suite 1202, Toronto, ON M5S 2V6
• Bay Street Location: 899 Bay Street, Toronto, ON M4Y 1C2
Both locations operate in high-demand urban areas and serve patients covered under private insurance plans, Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) claims, Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB), and OHIP programs. Job Summary:

The Senior Physiotherapy Assistant provides advanced clinical support to licensed physiotherapists in the delivery of individualized and complex rehabilitation programs within a high-volume, multi-practitioner clinical setting. Working under the direction of licensed physiotherapists, this role supports treatment implementation, coordinates treatment room workflow, and provides senior-level guidance within the physiotherapy support team to ensure continuity of patient care and operational efficiency.
Duties and responsibilities may include some or all of the following:


1. Clinical Support:
• Assist licensed physiotherapists in implementing individualized and complex rehabilitation treatment programs for patients with musculoskeletal injuries, post-surgical conditions, neurological disorders, and chronic pain
• Prepare and position patients for treatment sessions and monitor patient responses during therapy interventions
• Guide patients through prescribed therapeutic exercise programs, mobility training, and functional rehabilitation activities under supervision
• Set up, operate, and maintain therapeutic modalities including ultrasound, IFC, TENS, and related rehabilitation equipment in accordance with established clinical protocols
• Observe and document patient progress during treatment sessions and promptly report findings to supervising physiotherapists
• Ensure strict adherence to infection control standards, patient safety procedures, and clinical best practices


2. Senior-Level / Lead Support Functions
• Provide senior-level clinical support within a small physiotherapy assistant team
• Support and provide guidance to junior physiotherapy assistants in daily treatment preparation and equipment setup
• Coordinate treatment room readiness to support multiple physiotherapists and ensure efficient patient flow
• Promote consistency in therapy setup procedures and safe equipment usage
• Monitor rehabilitation equipment functionality and communicate maintenance needs
• Contribute to improving workflow efficiency within the physiotherapy support function


3. Administrative Support
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical records within electronic documentation systems
• Assist with appointment coordination to maintain efficient patient flow within the clinic
• Support inventory monitoring and supply management related to rehabilitation services


Qualifications:

• Effective communication skills to support collaboration within a clinical team
• Ability to support workflow coordination in a multi-treatment room environment
• Ability to assist in the implementation of complex rehabilitation protocols under supervision
